Information stored on your device
GatePass stores gate access codes, QR-code content, original messages, validity dates, estate names, saved estate coordinates, notification-source preferences and other app settings locally on your device.
GatePass does not provide a user account or cloud synchronisation service, and Android cloud backup is disabled for the app. You control this data and can delete individual codes and locations in the app. Uninstalling GatePass removes its local app data.
Notification access
If you enable notification access, GatePass reads notifications from only the source apps you select and processes their text on your device to identify likely access codes, estate names and validity dates.
This access is optional and can be revoked in Android settings. GatePass does not deliberately send notification content to Spogy or Firebase.
Location
If you enable nearby reminders, GatePass collects precise location data to notify you when you approach a saved gate, even when the app is closed or not in use. Android and Google Play services provide geofencing functionality.
Saved gate coordinates remain in GatePass's local database and are not used for advertising. You can disable nearby reminders and remove saved locations at any time.
When you use the map, GatePass requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap. The requested map area and ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, are necessarily sent to the map provider. Place searches use the geocoding service supplied by your device and send the search text needed to return results. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Camera and QR codes
Camera access is used only while you choose to scan a QR code. Scanned QR content is processed and stored on the device. GatePass does not upload camera images or QR content to Spogy or Firebase.
Crash diagnostics
Production versions of GatePass use Google Firebase Crashlytics to improve reliability. Crashlytics automatically receives crash stack traces, relevant app state, device metadata and installation identifiers.
GatePass does not use Firebase Analytics and does not deliberately attach gate codes, messages, QR content or saved locations to crash reports. Google processes Crashlytics information under its Firebase terms and privacy documentation.
Advertising
GatePass contains no advertising SDK, does not request the Android advertising ID (AD_ID), and does not use personal information for advertising or marketing.
Security and retention
Local information remains until you delete it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Crash information is retained according to Firebase Crashlytics policies. Information sent over the network by Firebase is encrypted in transit.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure, so keep your phone locked and do not store a code longer than needed.
Children
GatePass is a driving-related utility intended for adults. It is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as GatePass changes. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
